LIFE SKILLING SESSION DURING OUR CAMP
Life Skills are psychosocial competences which enable an individual develop adaptive and positive behavior so as to deal effectively with challenges and demands of everyday life. The development of Life Skills is a lifelong process that starts in early childhood and continues throughout one’s life
- Psycho
Those skills that deal mainly with the mental functions and processes, such as the problem solving skills.
- Social
Those skills that deal with one’s interaction with self, others and the environment and these include:
- Knowing self
- Knowing and living with others
- Decision making
Skills in making effective decisions
- Critical thinking (This means that you analyze issues, situation and decision that you are faced with carefully and closely so that you can even be able to anticipate the outcome).
- Creative thinking (By being creative it means that you have new ideas of doing things).
- Problem solving (Problem solving is a skill that enables us to recognize problems and find ways to meet our needs and avoid conflicts and dangers).
- Decision making (To make a decision means that you have a choice to choose between what is good and bad).
In decision making: Use the DECIDE acronym while making decisions
- Describe the problem
- Explore ways to deal with the problem
- Choose the most support
- Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the way
- Do it
- Evaluate
